4 steps to increasing your mental and physical health
January 15, 2022Although more and more people are becoming aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, we still live in a world where too many people feel as though they don’t have the time or energy to really live up to their full potential. In general, there is an imbalance between how much time is spent on mental and physical health compared to how much time is spent on work or other social activities.
It’s important that we spend our lives cautiously; not just so that we can seem like saints in front of others, but because a healthy mind will be instrumental in helping us find ways of living with happiness and success.
Although the balance is not perfect, there are a couple of simple ways we can consume more mental and physical health into our lives. The process takes about an hour and a half and involves four parts: eating properly, exercising for a small period in the morning or before going to bed, meditating as well as learning how to do some small stretches every day. After going through these steps it is easy to see that they are one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal when it comes to better living.
1. Eat Healthy Food
For starters, give up your daily coffee or tea addiction, whether it be a cup of green tea or black coffee with cream and sugar. In order to help you start your morning off right, eat something healthy that will give you energy instead. Start the day with a bowl of cereal and fruit, or have a whole wheat bagel with fresh fruit instead.
Although it might not sound like a big deal to give up coffee, this can actually have a big impact on your physical health by helping you lose weight and stay in good shape. Small changes are all it takes for us to make the world a better place for us and for everybody else.
2. Get Some Exercise
Next up, set aside about half an hour every day that you’re able to exercise in some way or another. Whether it be taking a few circuits of your room, playing with your pets or just simply stepping out of the shower, you should do some stretches every day.
Research has shown that regular exercise is so important for our overall health and well-being that it could help decrease the risk of a number of diseases. Even if you don’t feel like working out because you’re tired or over-worked, find something that you can do that will help improve your energy and mood quickly.
3. Learn How to Meditate
Finally, invest in a small book on meditation and learn how to do it properly (although there are many different types of meditation). When you feel that your mind is over-burdened or distracted by anxiety or worry, take a couple of minutes out of every day to meditate.
This is something that has been shown to have a positive impact on our mental health, as it allows the whole body to relax and helps the mind unwind and calm down. You can do this using any type of meditation; breathing meditation, loving-kindness meditation or any other method you find relaxing. Remember that in order for this strategy to work best for you, make sure that wherever you are meditating, you are comfortable and free from distractions.
4. Do Some Small Stretches Throughout the Day
Finally, it is important that we also practice doing some small stretches every day. In order to help improve your blood flow and help you feel more relaxed, take some time out of every day to do these simple exercises. While you might feel tempted to spend an hour a day doing them, even five minutes an hour is enough to get something done in your life!
It is important that we make our bodies work in order for it to function properly and promote longevity. If we don’t take the time out of our days for physical activity and mental stimulation, our health will suffer tremendously as a result.
Remember, the best thing to do when you’re feeling really stressed out is to take a few minutes out of your day to meditate.
