How to find passion

It’s hard to stay motivated when everything in life feels mundane, and sometimes it can be difficult to find your passion. If you’re struggling to figure out what you want to pursue, these tips might help give some direction to you.

In this blog post we will address the following: why finding your passion is important, how motivation works, the importance of patience and persistence in finding your passions, and the best ways for beginners to start exploring what they might enjoy.

Why Finding Your Passion is Important ?

Finding your passions is one of the most important things you will ever do, as it will define who you are and what your goals are in life. Those who find their passion have the ability to fully engage in their everyday activities and are able to get the most out of life.

How Motivation Works ?

Human beings are motivated by many things, primarily achievement and incentives. There are two main types of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic.

Extrinsic motivation is when your basic requirements for living are met. When you have access to food/shelter/water like everyone else does, then you can start to have other motivations like a salary or getting a promotion. This is when extrinsic motivation kicks in. If you don’t spend all of your earning on rent/food/shelter then you might find it motivational to do so.

Intrinsic motivation, on the other hand, is when extrinsic goals and desires are unimportant. It is when you get motivated by the things in life that make you happy, not by just making a living or getting a job promotion. To put it another way, intrinsic motivation is being internally motivated to achieve something whereas extrinsic motivation is doing something because you have external pressures to do so.

So what does this mean? It means that while extrinsic motivations might work, it tends to be consistently more effective to use intrinsic ones. And the easiest way to do this is by finding your passion in life!

Persistence and Patience are key factors in finding your passion

It might take some time to find your passion, and that’s okay. Don’t feel discouraged if you don’t find your passion right away because many people take years to narrow down what they want to pursue. Don’t give up, and don’t feel like you have to hurry either – just keep exploring and you are bound to find it eventually!

Starting out as a beginner can be difficult when finding your passion, so it’s important to set realistic expectations for yourself. What’s realistic? Not becoming a professional player of a game in the first week that you play it! Be patient enough to learn what you can and try many different things, and perhaps even enjoy yourself while doing so.

Determine what your interests are, and follow them up to determine what you might enjoy.

Here are some tips for finding your passions:

Tips to find passion

1. Explore different ideas.

Be open to trying new things, especially if they’re not directly related to what you think you might enjoy. Perhaps you’ve heard of a game and think that you might enjoy it, but after playing it find that you don’t actually enjoy the game much. Instead of getting discouraged, try something else! You never know when you might find your passion.

2. Ask yourself “Why?”

Ask yourself why you love something, or why you don’t like something. This will help to clarify whether or not things are worth pursuing in the future. If you’re not sure what you want to do, then this can help you figure it out.

3. Ask yourself “What is possible?”

Many times we get stuck in a place where we think that something just isn’t possible because all of the steps need to be taken – but with persistence, anything is possible. For example, I know that I want to be a professional league of legends player, but I also know that this might not happen in my lifetime (my life expectancy is around 78 years – just saying…)

4. Get out there and try things

Experiment with new things and see what you like or dislike about them. Don’t spend all of your time on something that you hate! It’s better to try one or two things a week, than to devote all of your time to something that you don’t like.

5. Look for patterns

Sometimes what you enjoy doing is just a matter of finding things that you enjoy in other areas. For example, I love playing League of legends and writing blogs, so these two are a perfect match. If you really want to know what interests you, then get yourself out there and explore your options!

6. Get feedback

Find out what other people think about something you’re interested in. This allows you to get constructive criticism and makes your decisions much easier. My favorite way of getting feedback is Reddit, where I love seeing other peoples ideas for games or websites, and if there are no comments/votes then I might not pursue it anymore – but if there is then this lets me know that others have an interest too.

7. Don’t be too goal-oriented

Don’t think that you have to become a pro player of a game just because you started playing it! You are going to enjoy things for many different reasons, and don’t let being “professional” get in the way of finding your passion. If you love something, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t pursue it! Just try to enjoy yourself while doing so.

8. Look within

When you find your passion in life, it will feel like a natural thing to do. There won’t be a lot of wondering if what you’re doing is right – you’ll feel at peace with yourself because you know that this is something that makes you happy. So look within yourself and see what makes you feel good.

A Final Note

Finding your passion isn’t going to be easy, but it is certainly worth it. It will give you the drive and motivation that you need to succeed in life and make other goals much more achievable. Find what you enjoy, and pursue this regardless of whether or not you think it will bring you fame and fortune.
If you find yourself at a dead-end or starting over, then that’s okay – just start over or try a different route.
